Day 1 Night 1 Desert Tour

Adelaide was brilliant, one night of partying with great blokes. Sam and Loring just happened to be staying at the same hostel that Stu had booked us into. Just goes to show how small the world is, and how the universe will continue to conspire. We met some new friends this night, and went out dancing. The night did not go without incident, but everyone will have their trials while travelling.

Needless to say, we had a great/drunk night.

Which maybe wasn't the smartest thing to do, seeing as how we had to wake up for our Rock Patrol tour across the desert the very next day at 5:30am. The tour guide was there to pick us up at 6:45am, and we were in a living hell. We sat in our seats and tried to sleep it off, but to no avail. It's time to meet new people, it's time to feel alive. Then he played "No Woman, No Cry" - Bob Marley. And we knew in that moment we made a smart choice by going on this tour. Just a feeling.

Once everyone was picked up, our tour guide, whose name is Tom warned us about keeping hydrated. It scared us so bad. So basically, if you don't keep at least 1.5lt of water to you, then you get a bottle of gatorade up your ass. It works wonders, if you don't want to do that, you need to get airlifted to a hospital before you start puking up your stomach lining. Great. So we stocked up on the water needless to say... The tour was well planned out, we wake up around 4:30/5:00am every morning to do hikes, because it is just too hot between the hours of 11am and 4pm, it gets up to 38 degrees. We do a lot of driving during these hours, and then more sight seeing in the evening. To top it all off, we have an amazing group, and a subwoofer, and Tom is stoked to use it.

Day 1: We start through the Clare Valley, it's a wine region, but we did not get to do a wine tour, we wanted to hike with a sober mind, and I'm glad we did. The hikes we did were breath taking.

Flinders Ranges, I saw my very first emu!

After a nice hike, with a great view we had our first lunch with the group, so far we are all very happy about the nutrition level. Lots of veggies. : )

Tom wasn't hesitant to get out of the bus and pick up native lizards, this one was a skink. I'm not sure what kind of skink, but it was very cool, and seemed very keen to bite us. The next hike we did, was not only beautiful, but was a bonding moment for the whole group.

Devil's Peak, about a three hour hike with a very gorgeous lookout at the end, what a treat it was. This is when the group began to form.

We did it!

Afterwards we pick Quandongs (A native peach) for an ice cream sauce!

Night 1: After our hike we head towards Stoney Creek to camp under the stars in swags, around red gum trees. It was quite a surprise to learn that our swags didn't have a net over them. Y'know being in Australia with 18 of the most venomous snakes in the world, and most of the world's venomous spiders, and venomous everything. The insects alone make you feel uneasy, but there is a feeling you get when you are in nature, you don't really care any more. It's quite a feeling. Australia has many feeling, I love it here. Stoney Creek holds very positive feelings for me. Now we set up.

Digeriedoo lessons

Chan and I are exhausted, and still hungover from the previous night in Adelaide, so we being to fall asleep after a nice supper, and a couple of glasses of Goon. Until France, Ireland and Australia start calling out to us to play their drinking game "King's Cup". "REPRESENT CANADA!!" one glance, and we're up playing a game that we call "Fuck Ups" in the maritimes. Essentially we got fucked up. Again.

Oh yeah, there was also a bus party. Tom whipped out the subwoofer. We underestimated the relationships we would make at this point of the tour.

And now we sleep, we have another big day tomorrow.
