We are on the road for 6am, the next morning. Princetown was great, although we lost our van keys at one point, which was the most stressful. We have been trying to meet up with some friends that we met in Melbourne, we are in the same areas, just keep missing them. Very frustrating.
Day 3: We continue our tour through the Great Ocean road.
Morning coffee at The Arch
Truer words.
London Bridge
Now off to The Grampians! This is a place I've been wanting to see, up into the mountains to camp, in with the wildlife. As we ascend there is a controlled forest fire, apparently the bush fires here are devastating clearing everything from plants, animals to people. They create these bush fires in order to get rid of the shrub that passes the fire so quickly.
We find a town in the middle of the mountains called Halls Gap, we stock up on groceries and look for a place to sleep. There are many options, but we choose to pay for a spot owned by Aboriginals, therefore we know the money is going to a worth while place. We chose a place called Borough Park. Very nice, there were very docile kangaroos there. We also met a couple from France, and a family from Australia who shared their fire with us.
Night 3: Our walk to the bathroom:
This is the river that we bathed in!
Day 4: A long night of sitting around the fire and reminiscing with total strangers about Canada, France and Australia, Chantal tells me she's never seen a waterfall before. Off we go to Mackenzie Falls. What a beautiful place, and a hard walk, had to take a seat at the end of this one.
Night 4: We finally meet up with our Irish friends outside of Mackenzie Falls, and make our way out of The Grampians. We drove all day until we arrived in Coorong, and found a National Park there where we paid $1.50 to stay for the night. And now we party. This is the most company that Chantal and I have had in a while so it's quite exciting to end our road trip in good company. Thanks for the good time, Rory, Anthony and Chris.
We stopped here to see some Aboriginal art.
It was all about when the white man came to Australia.
Very cool.
The party. : )
Centipede.
Next, we spend a night in Adelaide, then we are off to the desert, on tour with 19 strangers. I can't wait.
Great pictures - the artwork on your van is funny :-)
